I have a RasPi 1Which is running bullseye. I am using it to take periodic photos with a RasPi cam, and I have imagemagick adding a caption, and ffmpeg periodically assembling those into a video. The current photo and current video get ftp'd up to a web site.
I "developed" and tested my little scripts using the boot SD card, but then migrated the photo/video storage to a USB thumb drive, because I didn't want to be constantly writing to the SD card. But my feeling is that it's a lot slower. The USB drive is a "commodity" SanDisk flash drive, 256 GB.
Is there some other media I should be using? I don't really want something that requires separate power or anything, but any suggestions appreciated. Are there settings to enable write caching that would be off by default?
Thanks for any helpful guidance!
