Troubleshooting • Running Python File At Startup - Lock Up Detect

I have a zero 2 w running my hot tub.
During debug I leant that the IO seems to hold its last state if the processor hangs.

I've since added watchdog to try to unlock the PI VIA reboot.

Next steps

1) Relaunch the Python file at startup, any tip on this? I'd like to still be able to VNC into the PI while its running.
2) Monitor processor for lockup / open up hot tub safety relay if so.
-Do you know of any cct's that would provide logic high if a ~0.1hz sqwave is present ?
Wondering if I could interlock my safety relay (dry contact, on off CTRL uses an SSR in series) with this^cct to detect that the PI has locked up (toggle an OP every program loop / hardware cct open up my safety relay).

Please suggest alternative options if an easier solution exists.
