That would have taken up more board space.With a barrel jack! Yeah!The cheapest. least problematic approach, would have been to use a non PD 5V/5A supply. This would have addressed all concerns.They have commented on why they decided to support the 5v@5A mode (they needed more power) and why they did not support the higher voltage mode (more cost, complexity, thermal issues, board real estate).
