Thanks @MiscBits for your help.
It wasn't necessary after all to use your tips.

Id did

sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf
Filled the empty space with

nameserver 192.168.2.254
A reboot completed the resurrection of the DNS server.
You can certainly do that, but /etc/resolv.conf is an auto-generated file, so you've set yourself up for some hidden breakage if you change something later that causes NM to regenerate the file.

The best and correct way to do this is as MiscBits said. Best to fix it and avoid a future "we told you so" :lol:
