fan sounds normal
power supply ? i recommend you get the legit power supply for the rpi5. i got my rpi5 in trade because the previous owner was using a laptop power supply & had all kinds of issues.
storage media ? it needs to be fast enough to run an os. you can use raspberry pi diagnostics to test it.
screen ? mini to hdmi is the way to go, adapters can be hit or miss.
rpi's can be picky about screens with bad id's. try a different screen.
don't over clock
check the logsalso you might want to consider trying something else. the wayland/wayfire is not very stable for me, the panel crashes and screen turns black for no reason, they come back quick, but it's annoying.
i currently use a custom install using the raspberry os lite on pcie, but i keep a default install on sd i check from time to time.
