The way I think about the Pi is it's power efficient for a general purpose computer, but not compared to a battery-powered or embedded device.the cpu clocks are already dropping to the minimum at idleI don't have a Pi5 so can only speculate but its possible they are not currently doing all that they can to reduce idle power consumption (eg: dropping CPU clocks, dropping GPU clocks, reducing link speed on PCIE interfaces, dropping RAM clocks, wifi dropping to lower link rate and entering PS modes)
i assume the gpu clocks as well
the pcie link just turns off entirely at idle, which has caused problems with ds18b20 stuff
ram clocks, unknown
wifi, unknown, but ive heard that some power saving modes (just turning the radio off entirely, and checking in with the router on a pre-agreed schedule) has had compatibility issues
