My thermal concerns with the pimoroni are teh design of the 3D printed case and my application, in an RV. Not always going to be possible to keep it as cool as it would like...I have the Pimoroni BASE and have had no temperature issues "so far". That is with the caveats that I have not tried to beat on the SSD data transfer wise (other than running some speed tests) and am using a top/bottom plate "case" similar to the one peterlite posted.I have not tested the temps on the NVMEs yet... BUT.... The Geekworm puts the NVME on the bottom below the base, the Pimoroni sandwiches the NVME between the base and the Pi.
My 3D printer is taking a bit of a cat induced vacation so I ordered my case, but am also busy working on fixing the printer, once I get it working correctly again (blaming the cat but honestly nozzle is most likely the culprit) I have the STL for the case, and will modify it for some added airflow to the bottom. Both bases have design advantages over the other. The geekworm is way wasier to mount the NVME to, if you are using a 2280, anything else not so much... Since I am only using 2 and 4TB Crucial M.2 NVMEs 2280 is what I am working with...
Looking at Amazon LOTS of early reviewers claimed, and showed in pics that the Geekworm units shipped with incorrect screws, that seems to have been fixed...
