I’ve done both options. I thought it was an issue with something else I did, so I actually wiped the SD and started over. Everything worked just fine, until I made the switch to X11 from Wayland. I read another post about disabling the 4K60P video options. I tried that, but still no audio. I did the drop down from the speaker first. Then in trial and error I did the audio output changes from raspi-config too. I also tried changing the audio setting that had Pulse(I think that was the name). I tried both options in there and still no audio after a reboot each time. Then I switched back to Wayland and the audio was back.
