have you tried the latest

don't worry about the 'rpi4-images' name, that's just how they do it.
have you had experience with arch, cause some knowledge is a good thing.
most other distro's go by what's supported by the kernel, so if they're not using a recent kernel or a custom kernel then you can forget about it.
also there has been a rash of distros dropping arm support because of lack of man power to maintain.
suggest sticking with only main line distros when possible.
raspberry os is the best bet, you can build up from the lite version if you prefer a different setup.
you can change the repo's, if you just must have something newer.
