Pis up through the Pi4B (but not the Pi400) have an audio output connector (3mm, stereo). The output is "line level". You'll need to use either an external amp, or speakers with a built-in amp. No Pi has an audio input. You can get USB audio I/O dongles or add on boards (usually using the HAT specification) that will audio I/O and some with a small amp for the output. Or, of course, you can look for speakers and mics that connect via USB.Hello,
I am looking for a Pi that is either has a small speaker output, or the ability to connect to one. I also would like one with a microphone, whether built-in or also able to connect to externally.
My project would be making a voice assistant, but I don't think the device itself would be where the processing would happen - instead I'd like to make a call and send the data back. So it would just need to process my voice, send it in an API, and execute the returned transcription.
As for the hardware requirements - do specific models feature mic/speaker ability, or am I safe to buy any model? Thanks for your recommendation!
