I like the Pi forums. Friendly. Diverse topics. The 49000 topics posted cover almost everything I find of interest. Other people are tackling problems, like Wayland, ahead of me and pioneering solutions to save me time. Of the forums I visit, or visited, the Pi community would be in the top two for helpful and friendly.
Some of the non Pi part recommendations are hard to find here in Aus or are ridiculously expensive. When we buy from overseas, we lose the Australian consumer protection laws. Not a big deal when something posted from China costs less than the $1.25 I was quoted just for postage in Australia. I would not buy anything expensive that way. $25 for return postage from Aus! For something that cost $6 including postage from China.
Would be nice to see more Aus meetups although big distances can be a problem. One person I visited out in the bush highlighted the fact that his nearest neighbor is 4 hours away by air.
