Troubleshooting • Re: Overscan on Raspbian Lite

I’m sure I’m missing something incredibly simple here. I’m trying to set up a pi5 as a server, it’s running Raspbian Lite so no desktop environment, just a command line.
The only screen I have access to at the moment is a very cheap TV. It works, but it cuts off the sides and the bottom from the display output, so I can’t actually see what I’m typing in the command line, which is frustrating.
Setting overscan values in config.txt and every other trick I’ve found seems to have no effect, is this because they only apply to the desktop environment? Any ideas anyone?
Try tacking this on the end of cmdline.txt

Code:

video=HDMI-A-1:margin_left=50,margin_right=50,margin_top=24,margin_bottom=24
I found it lurking deep in this site somewhere. It works for me with a Pi-5 and a TV that lies through its teeth about its capabilities. Of course, you'll probably need to adjust the margins to suite your display.
