what's a useragent and what does it do for me?

The User Agent is how your browser identifies itself to a webserver so that the server knows what is and isn't supported.

For example, here is the Useragent string sent by Firefox on my X86-64 laptopSome sites won't work properly with user agents they don't recognise, like having ARM instead of x86_64 so you can use an extension to report a different one for specific sites.
