Automation, sensing and robotics • Re: SSR board fires no matter what...

It is a HiLetGo 4 channel SSR board. I purchased off of Amazon for my student. The issue is not that I cannot get the relay to actuate. The issue is that the relays activate no matter what as soon as any wire from the Pi is landed to any of the IN terminals on the relay board. So a GPIO.OUT pin that is not active and reading 0v on a meter when landed to an input on the board will trigger that associated relay. 3.3v...relay triggers, 0v...relay triggers any wire landed on the IN terminals fires the relay even if it is not carrying voltage. The link for the unit is here https://a.co/d/8VMXYmy

See below for my student's wiring diagram. NOTE: he does not show the trigger wires from the Pi's GPIO.

That is not an SSR module. It's a regular relay board, and this particular one can be configured to be active high or active low. Here's a schematic of one channel.

As you can see from the schematic, the jumper should be set to 'H' so that the input drives the optoisolator only. If set to 'L' there are other considerations.

Your link is for a 12V version. You may have damaged the Pi GPIO pins if you connected them with the jumper in the 'L' position.
