I thought of that and its simple enough. I was just curious if replacing it was a level of difficulty that would be worth trying. That doesn't sound like the case haha. Why don't you just plug in a USB3 Hub into the remaining working socket?
That'll be a lot easier than trying to solder a new one on without damaging the board.

I think I will leave it as is for now, when more time passes and my worry of damaging the board isn't as high (I will likely have multiple pi5 boards at that time, so it will be an "easier" sacrifice ) I may attempt to replace it, just to see if I can
