1. I don't have HW to test -> don't know if that's really working -> makes no sense at all to give it to you (or others here on the forum)
2. Haven't checked the sequence for plausibility by consulting the display controller data sheet (sequence of commands in init sequence can matter) and will not do that for sure
3. From PIs POV the display is active -> your panel is on the SPI screen --> move it to your HDMI as it's not possible to use it from the small screen
4. No interrest to check the overlay but would try without the PWM backlight related line -> you have a GPIO backlight configured already. When you know your screen is working you can make gimmiks
