please could you specify the reference of the example c/c++ code.
Could you put your source code on gisth or github.
A picture of your setup will help also.

I'm using pico c sdk , my board is "pico w" . Why are you asking about setup? It's just the example code from pico-example github repository (https://github.com/raspberrypi/pico-exa ... pu6050_i2c). nothing special just copy pasted ditto .
