Camera board • Increase exposure time to avoid banding lights

Hi,

first post here. We have recently bought the camera module v3 with a Raspberry Pi zero 2 w, and we are using it in an environment where there is a mix between sunlight and fluorescent lights, and they create light banding that we want to avoid. We have no control over the illumination, so we can't change that. The banding appears to occur when there is sunlight and fluorescent light and the exposure time goes below ~10000 (just a tad below that actually, although I would have expected it to be below 20000, it's PAL here).

I have modified the tuning exposure mode to stay at an analogue gain of 1.0 to increase exposure time, but, even with that, the exposure time goes below 10000. I have tried to set an analogue gain below 1.0, but, as expected, this doesn't work. The only option I can think of is adding a ND filter, but I'm asking here to see if anyone with more knowledge knows of a better/simpler option. I'm using rpicam-still, but I could program with picamera2 if that helps.

And, does anyone know a place to buy small glass ND filters for the camera? in Europe ideally. I would prefer to avoid using film ND filters if possible for image quality loss, and the camera and Raspberry Pi are in a custom designed 3D case, so I can design a filter holder.

Thanks,
Pau
