I did try to establish an SSH connection via Pi Connect
ssh and Raspberry Pi Connect are two different, independent, services.
Enabling (or disabling) either should have no effect on the ability to connect and work via the other.
Are your 2 workplaces, 30 seconds apart, served by the same domestic LAN, whether cabled or wireless?
Because if so the Raspberry Pi Connect service is undoubtedly convenient for its use of a browser but adds other complications and makes you dependent on a working Internet connection and a 'cloud' service operated by a 3rd-party .
Of course Raspberry Pi Connect should work, and I admire your persistence, but it isn't the only way to get your work done.
