@1a2a3a thanks for that. Unfortunately, although your second script turns the screen OFF, the first script doesn't turn it back on again!! As I said, I think this is because we are using wayfire to create a display surface for a single application with no mouse or keyboard, and wayfire seems to be designed for rendering a desktop so it just switches itself off permanently with the wlr-randr --off
