Are they Pi5s? If so, the 2712 kernel is just v8 but with 16k pages for the BCM2712 CPU in the Pi5. The v8 kernel uses 4k pages and will run on any of the 3, 4 or 5. The default 64-bit installs include both v8 and 2712 kernels (even when installed on Pi3s and Pi4s).

I've upgraded my Pi5 and Pi4s from 6.6.62 to 6.6.74 without any issues. Did you get any errors when you ran "sudo apt full-upgrade"?

What kernel images do you have installed from APT?

Code:

murph@raspberrypi:~ $ apt list --installed linux-image-\*Listing... Donelinux-image-6.6.51+rpt-rpi-2712/stable,now 1:6.6.51-1+rpt3 arm64 [installed,auto-removable]linux-image-6.6.51+rpt-rpi-v8/stable,now 1:6.6.51-1+rpt3 arm64 [installed,auto-removable]linux-image-6.6.62+rpt-rpi-2712/stable,now 1:6.6.62-1+rpt1 arm64 [installed,automatic]linux-image-6.6.62+rpt-rpi-v8/stable,now 1:6.6.62-1+rpt1 arm64 [installed,automatic]linux-image-6.6.74+rpt-rpi-2712/stable,now 1:6.6.74-1+rpt1 arm64 [installed,automatic]linux-image-6.6.74+rpt-rpi-v8/stable,now 1:6.6.74-1+rpt1 arm64 [installed,automatic]linux-image-rpi-2712/stable,now 1:6.6.74-1+rpt1 arm64 [installed]linux-image-rpi-v8/stable,now 1:6.6.74-1+rpt1 arm64 [installed]murph@raspberrypi:~ $
You can use "dpkg -V" to verify the installed packages. It will check all files are present and have the correct checksum. No output means no problems found.

Code:

murph@raspberrypi:~ $ dpkg -V linux-image-6.6.74+rpt-rpi-v8 linux-image-6.6.74+rpt-rpi-2712murph@raspberrypi:~ $
