The OS wont boot up. Im stuck in emergency mode. I've tried multiple memory cards and multiple OSs. It asks me for a root password and I have no idea what that is. I never set one. I searched and found the default is "raspberry" but that doesn't work
There is no default user and password. The root user does not have a password (and yes, that is correct).
Which OS?
Which model Pi?
Is that on the first boot after installing the OS or after you have made changes to it?
Did you make changes to /etc/fstab ? That's a common cause of this symptom.
