My internet connection was recently improved to 900Mbps. Since then, my Pi 4 only seems to be able to sustain a download connection of around 150Mbps. It is connected directly to the router by cat 6 ethernet.
I’ve tested the ethernet connection to and from the Pi 4 using iperf 3 and it always returns somewhere around 900Mbps in both directions, so I’m reasonably confident that the LAN is functioning OK.
If I swap in a Pi 5 in the same spot the internet download speed on a test jumps to around 870Mbps (as do other computers on the LAN).
Any thoughts on what might be causing this - how does the Pi differentiate between connecting to another machine on the LAN and one outside it? And is there anything I can do about it, other than go buy another Pi 5 because the Pi 4 doesn’t have enough grunt to do what I’m asking it to?
Pi4 hasn't got hardware encryption, https sites will be slow.
