I have an ubuntu Jellyfish 22.04 system with USB keyboard and mouse attached.
I used that to start a terminal and ssh into a pi5 as user "pi". OK
Then I did the usual:It worked perfectly, ubuntu keyboard moved the cursor in pi nano.
So I must be doing something different to you?
(Rebooted the pi so no other logins are there and no commands are running)
