You don't need to capture images of the panel.
Just try to align the camera view of the panel LEDs with the 12 red squares. The blue square measures the background to allow the code to determine if a led is on.
One issue that may occur is the code recognising the colour of the LEDs, being red , yellow or green. It may depend on the brightness or colour.
