Yep, I got some spare SSD's when Bookworm came out for the Pi5 to roll my own.since there's a lite version, raspberry os desktop is optional.
roll up those sleeves and diy your preferred install.
Living with Bookworm on a Pi400/4 is not too bad but both Chromium and Firefox and Wayfire? bring things to a halt.
Pi5 with X11 and maybe xfce based Desktop/WM will be my daily driver.
But that takes willpower, brainpower and I am melting without aircon here in Oz.
I am doing some serious 3D printer stuff now with Blender and FreeCAD that a Pi4 is struggling with.
I just dusted off the x86 PC that has not been used for a few years.
Emptied the desk covered with a million Hotwheels cars, found the on switch.
Windows is busy check summing the file system, recovering files etc, will it live?
Fixing Windows things is extra tiring.
There are still some apps I want to use where there are no Linux alternatives.
I do have Lazarus source code to apps that might be modded to do what I want, if my old brain thinks it can do it.
I suspect if I write my own Window/tiling library they will port to my own Baremetal OS which should run fast on a Zero2

But thinking about that is tiring too
