Howdy! project creator here. Just wanted to clarify a few things and also get your feedback.
Ubo pod is an open hardware and is very modular to enable different configurations. It is a child of its umbrella initiative called Ubo Project which aims to build a wide range of open source inter-operable modules and sub-systems powered by Raspberry Pi as its compute brain.
We will be offering every single sub-component used in building Ubo Pod (as well as other open source sub-components) available to anyone who wants to build a more specific configuration.
For example, I am currently offering Ubo Case 4 on my Tindie shop https://www.tindie.com/products/ubopod/ ... r-adapter/ which is essentially a modular, hackable, and extendable Raspberry Pi 4 enclosure.
AI assistant part of Ubo pod is a software capability. You can use the base software (which is also fully open source) https://github.com/ubopod/ubo_app to develop apps on the top of it, or fork it, scrap parts and use only some parts of it.
On USB-C DP Alt-mode subject, my overall plan is to offer sideboard as standalone module (as I am already doing that for current generation of the sideboard). I am planning to make an aluminum enclosure for it but you can also 3D print it.
I recently published part 2 of the video on my Youtube channel that continues on this design. I will probably have my first rev ready in the coming weeks:
