Camera board • Re: HQ Camera external sync signals support added

Hi all,

I would like to use six HQ camera modules, each connected to one rpi i.e. 6 camera modules and 6 rpi's, in a rig to take pictures to stitch into panoramic images. I need the image capture to be synchronous, at a maximum delay of 1ms. The capture will start from a signal sent by one rpi at the operator choice (not at fixed intervals). In some cases I would need to capture 2 pictures per second.

Reading the tutorial about HQ cameras synchronisation I believed that if I connect the rig as explained in that tuttorial (one source camera and 5 sink cameras etc) the synchronisation would work. Reading this thread it seems (hope to be wrong) there are many problems which I do not understand.

Could anyone suggest how to do the above, if it is possible.

Also I understand it is possible to configure each camera module in each rpi as a sink camera. Then one could send an external pulse, from a pico..., to the XVS pin to trigger a picture. Would it be possible to do that for all the 6 cameras of the rig together? Connecting the pico to all the XVS pins?

Thank you.
Regards,
Giuseppe
