The initial installation with wayland gave me so many problems with the taskbar, desktop and menu icons that I switched to the Xserver settings in advanced config.
With that I was able to easily add taskbar panel items like "keyboard layout handler", "cpu temp monitor" and start menu entries for "on click power down or reboot" without any fuzz.
What doesn't work though is the keyboard remapping from the more annoying than useful CAPS key to an additional control.
I added XKBOPTIONS="ctrl:nocaps" to /etc/default/keyboard and also added 'xkb_options=ctrl:nocaps' to ~/.config/wayfire.ini, but none did work.
