General discussion • pcmanfm automatic action is execute for all file types

As a windows user and programmer I bought a Pi 5 to learn and see what I could do with it. In windows I save all my browser links in a folder structure on the desktop. I shared that folder structure with the Pi 5 and proceeded to see how I could open a link by double-clicking it the same as windows.

Internet links in windows have the file type [.url]. So I wrote a script and added that file type in Pi OS. If I double-click such a file, pcmanfm puts up the dialog asking what to do. If I choose "open" the browser will open the link as expected.

The problem is, I don't want to have the action prompt appear with pcmanfm. I should just be able to double-click and have it work. Unfortunately if I check "don't ask options on launch executable file" in pcmanfm options, it treats all files as executables when double-clicked. It should only treat files ending in [.desktop] as executable. I have yet to find out what other file types might be executable, but anything registered as a mimi type should not be treated as an executable.

I'm wondering how I might get pcmanfm changed pursuant to this use case.
