The fact that it doesn't run on 32-bit arrmv7l either, giving the same MADV_HUGEPAGE assertion error, makes me think that no testing happened and few enough people use maxima for it to be never reported.The Linux kernel for the Pi 5 uses a nonstandard page size to obtain a speed increase at a possible loss of compatibility. Debian packages--it usually doesn't matter--appear to be built for a different page size.
