At this point, I'm not looking for a resolution necessarily. I'll try X11, but I'm thinking a reinstall might be my best option

I booted from an SD (instead of the 1TB SSD) card with a fresh install and everything works perfectly, so it's not the input devices.

Here's something worth noting that I remembered after chewing on this.

I think this started yesterday after an update. Now, here the odd thing. The update was just wrapping up and I heard a voice prompt, that old 90s style computer generated voice, saying that an update was needed. Kind of stupidly, I just thought it was part of the update, so I went ahead and ok'd it, then thought that the voice prompt was strange.

When I did a fresh install on my SD card, the same thing happened on update. Got the latest update then got the same voice prompt. This time I refused it, but the update was for packagekit updater or something like that. I don't know if that might be the issue.

I did try disabling packagekit with the following:
systemctl stop packagekit
systemctl disable packagekit
But that didn't seem to help.

At this point, I think that it's either the update that caused the issue, or there's a problem with my SSD drive, but I'm leaning strongly toward the former.

I may just do a complete reinstall next chance I get. PITA to have to reinstall all my applications and bookmarks, but you do what you gotta do.
