I too have an Argon Neo 5 NVME case and I have no issues with using my SSD (Crucial P3). The case is unlikely to be at fault, more likely a compatibility issue between your SSD and the Pi5. The PCIe to NVME adapter board in this case is very simple with the PCIe lanes connecting directly from the ribbon connector to the NVME connector, there is no logic or processing of the signals between.

My recommendation would be to check compatibility of your SSD with the Pi5 PCIe standard. There is a known list of certain SSD drives that contain incompatible controller chips. Alternatively, as a sanity check, try a different way of connecting such as the Pimoroni board.

Your previous use of this SSD with a USB bridge is a very different setup to the direct PCIe connection, so the two methods cannot be compared.
