I have no idea I am afraid, I just think I remember reading it somewhere. How does it do that ?As I understand it, LE makes files shared automatically.
This appears to be the case when i look in via my phone, my two Volumio Pis, my laptop and big PC with Mint Cinnamon on.
I am just able to access them immediately. No setting up or anything.
Samba requires that shares are created in smb.conf or as usershares before it can use them.
Thank you for this. Can you please check the the 'samba' package is installed with:Edit:
I installed samba with:Code:
sudo apt-get install samba-common smbclient samba-common-bin smbclient cifs-utils
The 'samba-common' packages will be installed if you install 'samba', but I don't think the 'samba' package will be installed if you just install the 'samba-common' packages.Code:
sudo apt-get install samba
I have done as you have suggested.
On my Mint machines, it just shows up, do I need to tell my pi where to go?
I didn't need to on thursday. I have just got a bit lost with all the things I have read, I don't know what I am actually meant to do.
Is the Pi OS meant to act different to the others perhaps?
Edit:
Sorry, forgot to add. After installing samba as you suggested, I now have my Pi5 (the machine I am on) showing up in smb.
