The post in https://withrow.io/simpsons-tv-build-guide-waveshare is describing using the onboard audio output to feed the amplifier via GPIO 19.
Your MAX98357A uses the I2S interface, but those GPIOs are used by the DPI display. You can't have both.
The script in their repo at https://github.com/buba447/simpsonstv hasn't been touched for 5 years and is using omxplayer. That's not going to work with any of the current Raspberry Pi OS releases. VLC is the currently recommended player.
