A Model B (aka Pi1B) is a single core ARMv6 CPU running (by default) at 700MHz. It will only run 32 bit OSes. The most current model, the Pi5, is quadcore Cortex-A76 running nominally at 2.4GHz and only runs 64 bit OSes. In addition, later CPU core designs have higher IPC values. Do the math.Thank you for further insight.
Let me reiterate. Is this model even worth using for the applications I desire to use?
I am also unsure what you mean by "I bet you know"
I don't have much knowledge in the realm of Linux and much less in the world of raspberry pi's.
I dabbled like 20 hrs in Linux on a vm. I am primarily a Windows user. I'd like to think I'm a very experienced Windows user. However, I'm learning new things every day I use that os.
I'm not asking for a very layman version of an explanation.
What I'm worried about is spending money I don't have to try this out or even get a new model. Not that it matters but I recently had to start over again financially and I'm not quite there yet to be spending money without a care. Even on a SD card.
