In my last test I used a function generator with a 750 kHz square wave to generate 'U' bytes with a perfect 1,500,000 baudrate and I was still getting the occasional characters getting screwed up. If I opened a second SSH window it got worse and when I was running htop in the other window it got way worse.
I tried what you said, 64,000,000 didn't help, but I'm using 1,500,000 baud so I multiplied by 16 and tried setting the uart clock to 24,000,000. That also didn't make a difference.
I removed mysql and it made no difference. I wonder if the RPi is too slow to read 1,500,000 baud from the serial port, which would be disappointing. I have a bunch of other RPi models, I might have to try other ones.
