The reason we tell people not to upgrade but start with a new card with a fresh install if whatever version of the is you want.

Now you're stuck having to get things fixed.

With a new card and fresh install, worse case scenario you remove the card and put the old one back in.

2nd best is to copy the SD card as a backup and upgrade. If it fails, you reimage the card from the backup. Though copying the card to a new one then upgrade gives you the ability to just switch to the old card in case things go south.

Keep this in mind next time you want n upgrade.

Now, is there any reason you can't just reimage the card with the new version and start over? You can still back it up prior so you can copy things to the card after the upgrade. Might be easier and faster.
