isn't that more valid for the - yet to be released - AI camera? Or will customers have to buy the 'AI-camera' and the Hailo accelerator in addition?..
Raspberry Pi has not gone about attempting to make AI applications or solve very specific problems with the Hailo accelerator. Instead, we have spent considerable effort seamlessly integrating Hailo's middleware software into our OS, and in particular, combining it with our camera/imaging software stack. Again, this is far from trivial to achieve. We have also provided a number of demos and tutorials showing what the AI kit is capable of. These can be used as a template for users to make their own applications with the AI kit should they wish to.
