I’m not certain that I did get an answer that makes sense. With the switch in line, it passes ZERO amps. I’ve tested it with two, different USB C power meters and neither will even power up.You already got an answer. That 27W USB C PD power supply negotiate to allow full 5A. Otherwise it just deliver 3A.
With no negotiation PI 5 will "ask" for your confirmation. You can either press a power button on it or write skipping that safety stop in the config.txt.
You can also get such USB switch which does have negotiate lines or use one of the suggested options.
In normal operations, the Pi 5 draws around 5 to 7 watts. I’d think the power supply would at least pass 5V at reduced of an amp or two but it passes nothing.
Does that sound like a power supply working properly?
