Well, as I tried to make clear with my own experience, it is not a problem with locate/updatedb. That program is doing its job as designed - and is, in fact, acting as the proverbial "canary in a coal mine". It's just that one of your hard disks is (like mine was) problematic.Well for sure, this is a problem with the package/command updatedb.
In one of your posts on this thread, you mention that the problem is (something like) a "non-existent" NTFS drive.
Obviously, that could mean a bunch of different things, but in any case, that's the thing you need to debug.
