I have been unable to readily find the maximum current rating for the Pico.
However, you don't need an opto-isolator to control a LED. Use a transistor as shown in this post. Connect the collector of the transistor to (in series) the LED, current limit resistor and positive of external power supply. Connect the negative end of the external power supply to RPi GND.
For independent control of multiple LEDs you can get 7 or 8 transistors in a single IC.
