One way Sakaki documented was in her Gentoo64 posts, back in Pi3 days, not sure if it applies to Pi5 64bit Bookworm.Do you know if there's a way that I can run the app in 32bit even though my bookworm OS is 64bit?
Anyway the magic word is "Chroot".
A search for "Pi5 chroot" shows no result here on the forums
No one tried it yet?
Docker is like wrapping the Game OS in it own secure box but still allowing it to run on the Pi.
Chroot "Changes the root" OS.
Emulation is a bit different it converts x86 to Arm instructions.
Probably possible to do all three at once?
Seems to be a few ways to get Emulation Station going

I suggest following the Debian compile solution, that tends to find out if anything is missing.
The RPi version is a little different.
I have found doing the three steps git clone "xx", cd "xx", make "xx" works most of the times these days.
Never used Emulation Station myself, was always a PC gamer.
SDL is graphic library, mostly now SDL2 is used, very popular for game engines.
Wayland not found sound like it is Raspberry OS Lite, Wayland gets installed when a Desktop is added to Lite?
Window not initialized means no window manager installed, not "Windows" but a manager for those windows on the Desktop.
If you start with Raspberry Pi OS Lite then install a Desktop/Window Manager then you might get closer.
Picking a Desktop/Window is another bunch of choices, Pi5 has more choices than ever before.
Learning how to do all this...... well that is why the Pi was invented -- learning.
There is PINN OS, it does have newer stuff than the Debian based Pi OS, but it looks older than Pi5.
But check the YT vids, hmm or not.
Emulation Station just seems to be a wrapper configuration tool for other emulations.
I just checked Imager options again, Installing Operating System - Emulation and Game OS.
None are Pi5 yet.
Just past mid Jan, Pi5 was announced Oct, a few got their specials early.
The first to whip out their credit card got theirs in Nov, lucky Xmas shoppers might have theirs.
So maybe one month has anyone in large numbers played with Pi5's.
Still too early for most things unless a champion steps up and does things like Kosta Kang.

Interesting, that Android version has sensor support.
Sorry, distracted by new shiny thing
The options are to wait until the Game OS options are there or, try doing it yourself.
And that's me channeling memjr
